Energy crisis?!

CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) - Taxi driver Jaime Tinoco works the streets of Caracas in a 1976 Chevy Nova that guzzles 19 gallons (72 liters) of gas a day. But he doesn't worry about fuel efficiency -- filling his tank costs just $2.30.
While U.S. consumers struggle with soaring energy prices, Venezuela's gas is now the world's cheapest at 12 cents a gallon and Washington's regional foe, President Hugo Chavez, vows to maintain subsidies that keep fuel dirt-cheap.
"Those gringos have everything -- so why does their gas cost so much?" asked Tinoco between chuckles as he navigated a midday traffic jam. "Don't they have oil reserves?"

I can only hope and pray that we get a decent alternative in the next election, instead of trying to pick the least of the two evils (or idiots, take your pick). Oh, to be rid of the two party system.

I am so thankful that, living in a small town, the grocery store is 4 blocks away, the school is 4 blocks the other direction, the bank is 4 blocks away... And the weather is nice enough to walk places! Not to mention the fact that walking is good for us, and that'a little less toxic fumes put into the air...

Yes, we've got reserves, but our government is making money off of us hand over fist, so why should we all be surprised.

Happy Mothers' Day to you Amethyst!
Love ya!
