Offical Religion of Missouri?

Missouri is trying to make christianity it's "official" religion.
Isn't that a violation of the Bill of Rights?

See what you think:

Missouri House Concurrent Resolution No. 13

First Amendment of the Bill of Rights:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. "

Good Morning Am!
I printed this and asked my boss, that attorney, about this. He said this essentially means nothing more than the MO General Assembly posturing. Voluntary prayer in school and religious displays on public property is already legal. This is them standing up and saying: Hey! Look at us! We believe in God." Nothing more. He went on to say that there is nothing changed here legally. Its just a statement of their beliefs. Interesting hmmm?

I'm not so sure that it is a huge deal to many. After all, look at the mormon communities of Utah or the jewish communities in New York State. I've never heard of a STATE making it official, but townships certainly have.

I can't imagine what sort of message this sends to the non-christians in Missouri, though...And what kind of religious prejudice this could lead to...
Is "State Skin color: White" next? they wouldn't mean anything much by that, either, I'm sure...
As a non-christian, this is just pretty offensive to me.

I just think that at this time in history, alienating any group - making divisions among ourselves - is the wrong thing to do. We should be trying to "Unite" the people...

That is insanity and totally unconstitutional for any government official to advocate for any religion in the public sphere. I keep feeling like we are taking more and more steps backwards as a nation. Thanks for sharing this!
