Just shoot me now

The company I work for has a policy that anyone that does not look 27 gets carded for cigarettes or beer.
They have a contract with a company that sends people around that are 25 or 26 years old to buy beer or cigarettes. If the clerk does not card them, the clerk gets handed a red card.
I got one of those red cards last spring.
I got another one last week.
So, this evening, they fired me.

The woman didn't look a day under 30, and wanted a pack of cigarettes. I didn't card her, but she "carded" me.

One week before Thanksgiving and I am unemployed. R is still unemployed. Luckily I just got through paying my truck insurance and truck payment for this month, so I don't have to worry about those for a month.

Guess I am going out in the morning looking for a job.
No jobs in this county, so I am going to the larger town 30 miles away. Don't really want to have to drive that, but I don't have any choice.

*sigh* Life just kinds sucks sometimes, ya know?

Good luck with the job hunt babygirl. The nice thing about looking at holiday time is there will be many "get you through" type jobs available hopefully. And I agree, this opens you up to all sorts of things and new possibilities. You will do fine, you know you will. Just keep your options open and roll with it.

Damn that sucks.

Be sure to apply for unemployment if you don't get a new job right away. The store will say you were fired for cause but you need to dispute it as the policy is vague about who looks what age because there are no guide lines on how to tell a persons age by looking at them. You need to state that the person looked over thirty to you.

Good luck in looking for the new job. May it will be better than the old job.

*Hugs*

You know, the stupid thing is, the first thought about was calling Sir... I just wanted to hear his voice, hear him tell me it was going to work out...
What difference that would make, I don't know...

Damn girl I'm sorry to hear that! I've worked for several companies with similar policies in the past. Like Jas I got in the habit of carding everyone (after I got "carded"). Maybe this is the universes way of bumping you toward another job or line of work.

I know you'll get through this, your smart and motivated. I wish there were more I could do than say nice things. There's retail work here out the wazoo but that ain't doin' you a damn bit of good.

Peace, love and hugs babygirl. I'm keeping you in my prayers as always.

Darnit! Amethyst. I sure hate to hear that. But...just as everyone says above, maybe this is the door shutting and another one is opening up. You've been open to growth and change lately. This could work out really good in the long run. Keep the faith girl. I'll add a job to my prayer requests for you. You know, I don't know why you don't call Him. Did you two just cut it off completely? Wouldn't you think he'd want to know and give a kind word? I'm sure he still cares for you, even if it didn't work out. You were friends before this weren't you? Go for it.
Hang in there, there is something really great out there. Now you have the opportunity to go find it.
